MeadWestVaco a large logging company owns and operates a 8,430 acre forest that is all privately owned. The entire forest is gated and only accessible to loggers and wildlife researchers.
The company was hiring universities to study the impact that logging was having on the wildlife, so the study I was involved in was studying songbirds. My 4-month job was to search four separate 120 acre sites by my self everyday alternating through them. I would find a target species nest and monitor the eggs through fledge.
At the time I had no thoughts of Sasquatch only what I had seen on documentaries that I quickly dismissed because I was a ‘biologist’ and came up with a number of reasons why they couldn’t exist.
Our base camp was at about 4,000 feet, we drive into the research forest everyday and did our job from 6am to 3pm Monday through Friday so I was in the woods more than I wanted to be. It was an extremely rainy season that summer.
